Discussion about Pink Floyd - The Great Gig In The Sky
Vudomuro
An interesting bootleg from International Records, who appear to specialize in releasing concerts that haven't been circulated as much as others (Earl's court august 18th 1973 is quite scarcely found on vinyl bootlegs). While the performance is Quite exceptional (minus Dave messing up some lyrics on "Us and Them"), this bootleg isn't without a few faults: The Sound Quality (while still pretty great for a bootleg) is still fairly short of excellent as it definitely came from an audience-based recording device, there is a brief speed problem on "Obscured by clouds" in which the tape fluctuates and the recording slows down for about a second (I've listened to other sources of this bootleg from online resources and this problem appears to have been corrected on the recordings circulating now) and the endings of both "Echoes" and "One of these Days" have been cut out (echoes cuts 18 minutes in, and one of these days cuts 5 minutes in). If you're majorly into Floyd and you're super curious about this release, I'd say check it out because other than those flaws that I mentioned, its still quite a solid bootleg and you would likely enjoy it. If you're not a hardcore fan though, I definitely don't think it would be worth spending the $100+ on it.
