This has some superb moments. The LP is one of those spectacular mid 60s Limelight efforts, with amazing multi-page gatefold covers. The album is worth getting just to hear the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet of the period. With James Moody, Kenny Barron, Chris White and Rudy Collins (with his rich-sounding ride cymbal), this is, for me, Diz's best-ever small group. The trumpet solo on "Um-Hmm!" is the best I have ever heard Diz play. He really screams and it makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up on edge. The other Quintet members play great solos, too.The rest of the album has two rather ragged blowing sessions which are not terribly interesting. A couple of swing era players do their best, but are not up to the standard on the Gillespie tracks. J J. Johnson is there, and he is, of course, great. Kenny Dorham is nowhere near his best (this was the period when he was putting out some superb Blue Note albums with Joe Henderson). Lee Konitz, most unfittingly, does a boring solo piece, preceded by a remark in very poor taste, and Dave Lambert does an embarrassingly bad scat solo. But forget those tracks. The excellent Gillespie tracks are worth the price of the album. Now comes the bonus. In 2002, the Japanese put out a CD of this event, and it has two extra tracks ("Blues From Gillespiana" and "A Night In Tunisia") by the Gillespie Quintet. I can't read the name of the company that put the CD out, but the number is UCCM-9072 and it sold for about $18. I don't know how to add this version to Discogs's list.
